Last Monday, December 21st, was the official start of the Winter season. Here, in New York, we have been experiencing the brisk cold weather of the season for a couple of weeks now. Just last week, we just had the biggest snow blizzard we’ve ever had in the past 4 years! If you know anything about NY, you know that the Winter months are brutal! Which, means a lot of extra moisturizing is a must for my skin during this time.

Here's a very important tip I have learned over the years in order to maintain the health of my skin: it is essential to switch up your skincare products along with changes in your environment and your body. For example, as women, we go through hormonal changes every single month with our menstrual cycle which in turn changes the makeup of our skin or "skin type". It is especially important to give your skin care products a "switch up" as the seasons change. Think about it like this, as the weather changes so does the texture of your skin (dry, oily, dehydrated, etc.). If your skin texture (skin type) changes, then so should your skincare products.
Here are my favorite products that I’ve been using since the Fall season and will continue to use during these cold Winter months. You can find my instagram guide for some of these products or for a full list of these products, head to my Amazon storefront here. Some products are also linked in the images below that are not available for purchase on amazon. I invite you to leave a comment. I’d love to know what are some of your Winter skincare favorites!
Body Moisturizers
1. Bath & Body Works "Coco Shea Honey Moisturizing Body Oil"
2. Bath & Body Works "Smoothing Foot Scrub"
3. Renpure "Coconut Milk & Vitamin E" Body Lotion
Facial Care
4. Ole Henriksen "Banana Bright Eye Creme"
5. Hanalei Sugar Lip Scrub
This lip scrub has really come in handy during this shift in climate. Whenever, my lips are feeling super dry or cracking from the cold, I just gently scrub this on my lips and leave it on for a couple of minutes before removing it. Immediately my lips feels smooth and alleviated.
6. Laneige "Water Sleeping Mask"
7. Caritas "Rose Water" Daily Hydrating & Balancing Hair, Face, & Body Mist
8. Caritas "Wild Rose & Coconut" Daily Hydrating & Anti-Aging Facial Serum
9. Caritas "Botanic Rescue Eyelash & Brow Growth Serum"
10. Tan-Luxe "The Face" Anti-Age Rejuvenating Self-Tan Drops
During the fall and winter months, since I am forced to be indoors most of the day, I loose my Summer tan glow. I was introduced to this amazing product by my mother-in-law. It does a great job at adding a little glow of color to my Winter pale skin gradually. Best part of all is that it adds a subtle tan naturally without making you look like you just arrived from a Caribbean island from one day to the next.
11. Trader Joe's "Spa Natural Facial Cleansing Pads with Tea Tree Oil"
If you know me, then you know I will take anything with some tea tree oil for my hair and skin!
12. Trader Joe's "Nourish Antioxidant Facial Serum"
This serum is great to use as a primer underneath your moisturizer and before applying makeup. It truly leaves your skin feeling silky smooth without being extra oily or greasy.
Hair Care
I had to add this category because I treat my hair differently in the Fall & Winter from the Spring & Summer. I have super curly, frizzy, and dry hair. During the warmer months, I try to minimize the heat on my hair by leaving it natural, with curls for most of the time. This allows for me to reduce any damage that I can cause from excessive hair drying and straightening. However, during the cold, Winter months, I prefer to maintain my hair straightened and dry.
Here are some great products I have been using that have really saved me time when it comes to blow drying and straightening my hair.
13. Trader Joe's "Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Hair Mask"
14. Chi "44 Iron Guard"
15. Revlon "One-Step Hair Dryer Volumizer Hot Air Brush"
16. BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Ultra-Thin Straightening Iron

This post was so helpful! I struggle with severe dry skin during the winter so I'll definitely be checking out some of these products. I've got my eye on the Laneige "Water Sleeping Mask".
